Last updated: October 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how PAL CAPITAL, LLC (“Kitchen,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Kitchen website, web app, and any related mobile applications (collectively, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. See also our Terms of Service.

  • Display name
  • Password (stored by our authentication provider; we do not store plain-text passwords)
  • Kitchen preferences (default servings, units, text size)
  • Your marketing email choice, with when and where you made it (for example at sign-up or in Settings)

Content you provide

  • Recipes (ingredients, steps, tags, photos)
  • Cookbooks and sharing settings
  • Notes and collaboration activity
  • Recipe version history when edits are saved

  • Social import counts (Instagram/TikTok link imports)
  • Subscription tier and feature usage
  • Basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps)

Device and offline data (subscribers)

If you have a subscription with offline cook mode, recipe data you choose to cache may be stored locally on your device. We do not receive that cached data unless you sync while online.

How we use information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service
  • Authenticate you and manage your account
  • Process recipe imports (including caption text and, when available, video analysis)
  • Enforce free and paid feature limits
  • Send account emails: sign-in links, password resets, cookbook invitations and billing receipts
  • Send marketing emails (cooking ideas, Kitchen news and offers) if you have not opted out; see Marketing email
  • Respond to support requests
  • Improve reliability and security
  • Improve Kitchen, including developing and training product features, using content kept after account deletion as described in Data retention

We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

We use trusted providers to run Kitchen:

ProviderPurpose
NeonPostgreSQL database
CloudflareHosting, CDN, and object storage for recipe photos
ResendAccount email (sign-in links, password resets, invitations) and marketing email; holds your email, name and marketing choice
StripePayment processing for Kitchen Plus subscriptions. We never see or store card numbers.
Anthropic (Claude)Drafting a recipe from the photos, video frames, pasted text, dictation or link you choose to fill from, and reading handwritten cards

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms. We configure them so your recipe content is not used to train public models beyond what is required to provide the import feature.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

Signed-in app. Kitchen sets a session cookie so you stay signed in. It contains no tracking identifiers and is not shared with advertisers. There are no ads and no third-party analytics inside the app, in cook mode, or on any page that requires an account.

This website. lovethelaus.com is measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. When you arrive from an ad, email or link, we keep a small first-party cookie (ltl_attr, 90 days) that records only where you came from: the referring site or campaign tag and the first page you saw. If you create an account, that is saved with it so we know which campaigns work. It holds nothing about you and is never shared.

Public pages. Recipes and cookbooks that a family has chosen to make public (for example /kitchen/explore and public cookbook links) may show advertising served by Google AdSense and may be measured with Google Analytics. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites, and to measure how ads perform. Where required by law you will see a consent choice before any advertising cookies are set, and you can change it at any time from the consent link on those pages.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com, and learn more or opt out of other vendors at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu. Google’s use of data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Marketing email

We may send you occasional emails with cooking ideas, Kitchen news and offers. You choose at sign-up, and you can change your mind at any time in Settings → Notifications or with the unsubscribe link in every marketing email; we honor it right away. Accounts created before October 5, 2026 were signed up for these emails and can opt out the same way.

We keep a record of your choice and when you made it. Opting out of marketing does not stop account emails you need, such as sign-in links, password resets, invitations and receipts. We send marketing email through Resend, and we never sell or rent your email address.

Sharing and collaboration

When you share a cookbook or grant recipe access (view, comment, or edit), other Kitchen users you invite can see the content you share according to the permissions you set. You control sharing in the app.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

Data retention

We retain your account and recipe data while your account is active.

When you delete your account. Deleting your account in Settings immediately removes your account, sign-in details, cookbooks, sharing, and the link to your billing. We may keep copies of the recipes, photos, and other files you uploaded, separated from your account so they are no longer linked to your name or email address, and use them to improve Kitchen, including developing and training product features. We delete these copies once we no longer need them for that purpose.

If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or California, we delete your content outright when you delete your account. The only exception is basic recipe text (a recipe’s title, ingredients, and steps), which we may keep after removing names, stories, notes, and anything else that could identify you or your family. We do not keep your photos, scanned cards, voice memos, or family history.

Backups may hold deleted data for a limited period before they are overwritten.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data
  • Export your recipes (see in-app export)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

Contact privacy@lovethelaus.com to exercise these rights.

Children

Kitchen is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us data.

International transfers

If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the new date at the top. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
